Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Retold website at https://www.retold.dev or any Retold application (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
Retold is an AI-powered resume tailoring tool. It allows users to upload or paste their existing resume, provide a job description, and receive a tailored version optimized for that role. Features include keyword matching, ATS analysis, multiple resume variations, and export in various formats.
The Service is provided on a subscription basis with a free tier and paid plans. Feature availability varies by plan.
3. User Accounts
To access most features you must create an account using a supported OAuth provider (Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You may not use another person's account or impersonate any person or entity. Notify us immediately at legal@retold.dev if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent content
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful data
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service without written permission
- Use the Service to generate content intended to deceive employers or misrepresent qualifications
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize the Service without prior written consent
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions.
5. User Content and Intellectual Property
Your Content
You retain ownership of all resume content, job descriptions, and other materials you submit to the Service (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant Retold a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process and store that content solely to provide the Service to you.
You represent that you own or have the rights to all User Content you submit, and that it does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.
Retold's IP
The Service, including its design, code, branding, and AI-generated outputs (excluding your User Content), is owned by Retold and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Retold's intellectual property to you.
AI Improvement Data
When you use AI-powered features of the Service, we may collect anonymized, de-identified interaction data (such as the prompts sent to the AI and the outputs it produces) to train and improve our AI models. Before this data is used for training, all personally identifiable information is removed, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and company names. The anonymized data cannot be traced back to you or any individual.
You retain full ownership of your User Content at all times. The anonymized interaction data used for AI training does not contain your personal information and constitutes a separate, de-identified dataset.
You may opt out of AI improvement data collection at any time through your account settings. Opting out will stop all future interaction logging for your account. For more details on what data is collected and how it is anonymized, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Payments and Billing
Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a monthly subscription basis. By subscribing, you authorize Retold to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
All fees are stated in USD and are exclusive of applicable taxes. Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing settings in your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
7. AI-Generated Content
The tailored resumes and other outputs produced by the Service are generated by artificial intelligence and are based solely on the content you provide. You are solely responsible for reviewing AI-generated outputs for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness before using them in any job application or professional context.
Retold does not guarantee that AI-generated outputs are error-free, factually accurate, or appropriate for any specific use. The Service does not endorse or verify any claims made in tailored resumes.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Retold does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Retold makes no representations regarding job application outcomes, interview rates, or employment results from using the Service.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RETOLD AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL RETOLD'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL FEES YOU PAID TO RETOLD IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Retold and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) your use of the Service, (b) your User Content, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any third-party rights.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Retold may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12) will survive.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
13. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (such as via email or an in-app notice). Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
